Sometimes it is very reassuring to see a politician squirm, especially when Micheal Gove backed down on the Baccy. He certainly wouldn't have passed the test on what the education system really needs. Anyway, good news that the Arts subjects, in particular, are not being completely erased from our memory just yet! Thanks for reading my blog and acting on it Govey!
Now on to the next problem, what are we eating? It seems actually that no-one really knows what's in anything now. Suddenly the door has been opened into a massive processed food
fraud. The problem is obviously greed - by both the producers and the consumers.
Firstly, the producers have found they can get away with putting whatever they want into a pack and provided it looks appetising consumers will buy it and eat it. The laws of economics dictate to the greedy producers that if they can substitute cheap ingredients then they make more money and I guess as long as it's still 'edible' and flavoured up no-one will be the wiser, especially as it seems that nobody really checks up on these things!! The greedy consumers just want the cheapest food that looks like food and as long as it looks good on the pack will buy it ( not sure if they are just plain trusting or just plain stupid? )
I do predict the horsey thing will be the tip of the iceberg because if household names like Findus (not the cheapest processed foods), Tesco and Waitrose are finding the wrong meat in ready meals what about things like sausages, sauces and mixes where it must be virtually impossible to tell what is actually in them. So we have to rely on the labels - not helpful because they probably tells porky pies and even then you can't be sure!
I am going to design an app for the i phone which can scan any processed food on the shelf and give a read out of what's in the food on a simple traffic light system - green = processed stuff probably won't kill you, amber = processed stuff if you eat a huge amount it may kill you, red = highly possessed food which will definitely kill you instantly so try to avoid it.
Then as long as your phone stays green you should be able to live a long and healthy life..is there anybody out there good at making apps?
