Mayday! Mayday! Mayday!

Its May 1st already! We have had our summer by the look of the pouring rain which has arrived just in time for the bank holiday weekend. The fact that I am composing this post as I am working is indicative of the fact that there are very few (well none actually) customers on the forecourt so far today. There will, of course be 1001reasons for this such as rain, saturday and bank holiday weekend but that does little to help as far actual sales are concerned. So I will be positive and put my mind to something else and not dwell on an empty forecourt. Within the next two weeks we will have a change of government at the general election. Since there seems to be more media interest than usual, the outcome will be interesting to see, although I guess that no matter who gets in they will change the goal posts once in power. Since our trip to Paris in early April we have also had a weekend away on Exmoor with our friends Ian and Angela. This was great fun and we were impressed by the scenery, helped by some amazing weather. It was during the no fly week due to the Icelandic volcano which meant that we experienced a totally blue sky with no clouds or even any of the vapour trails which are normally drawn across the skies. The totally blue sky coupled with zero wind meant on one occasion during the weekend we were walking along part of the coastal path overlooking the sea next to the Valley of the Rocks near Lynton and it was absolutely silent. The sea and the sky merged into one blue, the sea was completely flat calm and it was just silent. We stood for a few minutes looking down the sheer rocks to the sea in the eerie silence and it was very strange and quite unusual. After a ride on the cliff railway between Lynton and Lynmouth we had a relaxing time taking in the coast of North Devon and wandering around some of the National Trust properties in the area. We visited Dunstar Castle, Knightshayes and Arlington Court where we also took a ride in a horse and cart. So April was a good month in which we explored some interesting places and enjoyed some quality time with our friends.
