'They're behind you!...)

This week suddenly start to zoom by on Thursday. It was so busy at work I didn't have time to blog anything (simply not good enough!). Sold two cars and had to rush from work to meet up with Steve, Sarah , Anna, Abbie and Josiah to go to the Panto at the Northcott Theatre. It was a great laugh, very professional with good singing and choreography and also some excellent effects including a real snow storm across the auditorium. It was also Anna's birthday and she was suitably embarrassed when her name was called out by Buttons from the stage and she and one other lad were sung 'Happy Birthday' to accompanied by an excellent band. Everyone enjoyed it immensely and after we picked up fish & chips which we ate together back at our house. It was a good family outing and I think better than we had all expected. The Northcott Theatre is, however, threatened with closure, since the Arts Council has said it is withdrawing a substantial grant during this year. It would be tragic for Exeter to lose it's main Theatre, and doubly so since there has just been a major refurbishment to the theatre. This theatre is accessible for the majority of people in Exeter and it does several community based productions during each year. I, for one, would not want to see the Northcott close its doors to the public. Call me suspicious if you like but, being based on the University campus, I do wonder maybe if Exeter University has an underlying reason for wanting a refurbished building of this nature. There is some rapid expansion ahead planned and who knows what courses planned to be developed and who knows what strings could be politically pulled with the Arts Council??!! Anyway there must be a reason, so I am going to try to find out more!!
Today was a day off and I took down the Christmas tree and decorations which had worked really well this year. I managed to crush my one month old designer reading glasses, so had to take a trip to Vision Express to make use of my insurance (I don't usually bother about those but it was two years for £25 so I took it out. Just as well since the glasses were over £200!). they immediately ordered some new frames without question, so good on them. I suppose if my glasses crushing episode had happened twenty four hours earlier, before I sat on them someone would probably have shouted 'they're behind you!.........
