The past week or so have been somewhat eventful on the roof conversion front. The most notable evening being when I arrived home with a bad cold, wanting only to get to bed (you know man flu!). Rich, our builder had spent the day demolishing the rear roof completely and constructing the basic framework for the new dormer section. By the time he left it was past 9.00pm and dark, having fixed in the temporary cover. At about 11.00pm the rain started and it quickly became patently obvious that it was not waterproof. I was lying in bed and suddenly heard what sounded like a tap running above the bedroom. Then it started to run down the electric light fitting and onto my bed. Marg put a bowl on the end of the bed to catch the water but things were looking worse than a mixing bowl could cope with. Not feeling like getting up (man flu) I struggled out of bed and at 11.30pm was up in the roof space with six buckets trying to slow the flow! We then evacuated the bedroom and took our matress into the dining room, the only space available that wasn't dripping in one way or another. Fortunately the rain subsided and the drips slowed down and eventually stopped for the rest of the night. Oh well, I guess that's all part of taking off your roof in the rain but I will be seriously happy when we get a new roof in place.
Anyway, there are a few pictures to see what is going on. I actually like some of the way that some of the structures have created some interesting designs but I suppose that's the art teacher in me?
