zoom, zoom zoom.......
not so many years ago a day out would involve taking a charabang to the seaside with your neatly knotted handkerchief on your pocket and your mothers pride ham sandwiches in a carrier bag. the high point of the day would be the donkey ride along the sand and the low point would be dropping your 99 flake ice cream before you get back to your deck chair. our day out on sunday to thruxton to see three rounds of the british touring car championship was not i'm glad to say like that. we travelled in relative luxury in the merc camper van arrived well in time and enjoyed a coffee before going into the circuit. good vantage points were easily available because of the banks around the circuit and after entry to the paddock area it was possible to walk around the pits and see cars being worked on and all the huge back up involved in the event. there was a great atmosphere around the place and security seemed quite pleasantly relaxed. the day was very hot so having the camper to retreat to during for lunch was a great relief. we saw lots and enjoyed the races and eventually got back mid evening after another smooth drive home. thanks steve and neal for a brilliant day out....
