a fish with no eye......
today is josiah's (grandchild number three) 5th birthday...happy birthday jo. last evening we enjoyed going out for a chinese meal to celebrate. with chopsticks at the ready and huge piles of noodles, rice, duck, prawns, beef etc etc an amusing time ensued especially when steve was asked the question what do you call a fish with no eye? family, work, work, family.. it struck me last evening that up until recently as a teacher focus on what you do in your place of work has two effects. one it takes over most of your time and more fulfilling all the demands required by the college and secondly it means your family have to fit into your work schedule and generally take second place. because i now work for steve family issues and interests are much more integral with work which for most of the time is very satisfying. also i do have the opportunity to do other things (i did say opportunity if not always used) which is good and i have a few projects in mind for the next few years like replacing the top of the house, making a pond, developing the studio into a more useable space, selling some of my accumilated antique junk, making a few quid, rebuilding the garage and workshop, etc etc. if i manage to get that lot done in the next ten years i will be impressed. so anyway it seems we have actually found a house we like an are prepared to try not moving for a change. so there you go we shall see. ask a motor trader what do you call a fish with no eye and of course you get the correct answer a full service history!....
