the man in the grey coat....

Stealthily, with his back against the cold brick wall, ross edged closer to the corner of the building. from this point he could just see the intruder's reflection in the freshly polished panel of a bmw. to get in striking distance of the intruder would take some strategic and careful movement. ross moved forward slowly and low to a position directly behind the bmw. the intruder was unaware of his appending doom remaining focused on the text hanging in the window as he adjusted the collar of his grey overcoat. there was a short stretch of open ground between the bmw and the next vehicle. if ross could make it to the next vehicle without being spotted there was a real chance he would be in a position to apprehend the intruder. ross waited until the intruder was distracted by the sound of a train passing nearby. ross dragged himself on his stomach completely ignoring the pool of oil-stained water and mud on the floor. once in the shadow of the next car he took a minute to catch his breath and work out his final plan of attack. he would need to distract the intruder for long enough to rush him and take him out. after that he wasn't sure. there was a chance that the intruder had a gun or a knife which might make this maneuver too dangerous to contemplate. having managed to succeed this far, ross decided that he had no option but to finish the job. what right did the intruder have to be there. who the hell did he think he was anyway? ross picked up a stone from under the vehicle and lobbed it like a grenade to land a few yards ahead of the intruder. it startled him and as he looked to see what had caused the noise ross made his move. like a greyhound out of a trap he sprinted towards the intruder burying his shoulder into his back and bringing him down with one almighty rugby tackle. it all happened very quickly and before he realised what was happening ross had the intruder face down on the concrete with his arms locked securely behind his neck. the intruder could not move with ross kneeling on his back and his face grazed against the cold floor. ross took a pad and a pen from his top pocket and scribbled the date and time before saying anything. then he leaned forward and whispered into the motionless intruders ear. so it was the astra you were interested in then was it sir.......
