champagne and confetti....
A weekend which felt like a weekend - they always seem to disappear into thin air if you know what i mean? an old friend of mine, tim, invited marg and i to his wedding to ali at a country house hotel near exeter. we arrived well in time, not far to drive, and really enjoyed the wedding ceremony. the registrar was superb and made the whole thing very intimate and personal followed by drinks and photos on the lawn. the lord haldon hotel is a lovely setting and the sun broke through right on cue. the reception was very pleasant and lasted through to about 6.30pm with good food and drinks which kept appearing like magic. we checked into our room and chilled for an hour or so before the disco dancey bit which was obviously aimed at middle aged plus by the tracks played. i'm not complaining though, it meant i knew most of the words and it was good to have the chance to actually dance (spending most happy saturday evenings sound mixing at wedding gigs for the hardplace band!). staying overnight was brill, being able not to worry about driving. of course i didn't overdo it (i think!). s'funny the people you meet at weddings though. as the only people not directly part of the family at the reception we were accepted really well which made us feel very comfortable. the room was good and breakfast excellent. all in all we had a very relaxing time getting home for lunch. so there you have it a weekend like they used to be - i'm looking forward to the next one!
