RTE ireland @ 18.5 degrees C
Probably the last blog from the emerald isle. Spent the last 2 nights around galway bay. Coast was quite spectacular especially as the weather was very windy, so waves and sea were very dramatic. Every so often i braved the elements while marg couldn't release her umbilical cord from the almera and her book! Well what's new, at least it wasn't her laptop! Monday eve stopped at Doolin at a very Irish pub right on the coast full of photos and things relating to various musicians who had played there. Tuesday we went to galway - the city centre was full of old buildings, some as early as 15th and 16th century mixed with some brand new malls etc. They were re-doing the centre which was a mess and apparently the developers demolished a lovely centre about 2 years ago and have been arguing about the site ever since! Travelled up the north side of galway bay where the whole coastline is covered with new houses for mile after mile. The amount of new building going on all over is amazing. Everywhere you go there are new houses, mostly large too. What we couldn't quite work out was where the evidence of the old housing is. Had a bar meal in local pub in kirvanna last night. The barmaid was a lady from the phillipines working in ireland to support her family and 2 kids who she said she would see about once a year! Makes you think how lucky we are sometimes! Currently on our way back to dublin for the final leg of our tour. Hopefully by the time we reach the airport i will have worked out the feckin heater controls on the almera. How could anyone think that combining the heating and radio controls was a good idea! [Of course, I worked out how to use them on the first day! marg] Have bought 2 irish music cd's which we are playing (cause you have to when you're in ireland) and am wondering why all their jigs and reels are exactly the same??!! Looking forward to coming home for a break!!! Must go and change stations to get more heat from the a/c!!!
