An interesting few days...
Bank holiday weekend..time to sit back with a beer and enjoy the sunshine. No such luck! Took Friday off to start demolishing the bathroom ready to re-decorate while Marguerite went up to Emma's for the weekend in Darlington. Quite good ripping up carpet and bath panels etc, I must have a destructive streak somewhere! Got on well, though and by the end of the day had coated the ceiling and walls with a first coat of emulsion paint. Did manage to treat myself to a well earned beer and relax by about 7pm. Sat was spent up with Marg's Dad in Barnstaple, to give him some company. We went out for lunch and had a chat which was good. Quite by chance I had a gig in Barnstaple with the Hardplace Band so spent the evening at a wedding reception as sound engineer. Got back to Exeter about 2.30am after enjoying the 50 mile trip driving a 523 BMW we took in part exchange during the week. Surprisingly, I woke up at a reasonable time on Sunday and made use of the day finishing off the bathroom paintwork, broken up with an afternoon and evening visit to the Amber Rooms bar to watch some friends perform some songs during a day of live bands. Bit disappointed that the bands were far too loud for the venue. Such a shame when you talented and tight musicians completely ruin a potentially good performance by being simply far too loud for the venue. Still, that's often one of the major differences between semi pro and pro bands. Monday I worked - 10 till 4 and finished off bits in bathroom in the evening. Marg came home Tuesday eve after visiting Jon, Becky and Layla-Fay (my younger brother, wife and daughter) in Thatcham. If you want to see a very cool grand daughter in some new clothes bought over the weekend by Marg, look at the link to Emma's Blog. Fashion obviously does go round in circles! So I'm almost up to date now. Gonna publish this now as we are just about to have a thunderstrom and I don't want to have a power failure.....
